Moon over the Mounds Tour at Crystal River Archaeological Park

The HHPS will have a field trip to Moon over the Mounds, a moonlight guided tour at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park on September 25.

What you need to know:

We will meet at the Cracker's Bar and Grill for dinner at 4:00 p.m.   It is a reasonably priced restaurant on the Gulf.  The address is 502 NW 6th St., Crystal River 34428.  Their phone is 352-795-3999.  You can view the menu at Prices range from 7.49 for a reuben to 21.99 for a seafood combo platter.  A menu will be available at the September meeting.

We will then depart for the mounds/Crystal River St. Martin's Aquatic Reserve.  This is where you decide to go straight to the mounds, or the boat display. There is ample time to do both. You may choose to do the boat display, then meet at the mounds directly after.  The boat display should only take about 30 minutes. It is located two miles past the mounds. There is ample signage to direct you.

From 6-8 p.m,  FPAN will be conducting an expo on the grounds of the Crystal River Archaeological State Park.  The guided tour of the mounds will begin promptly at 8 p.m.  The "museum"  will also be open for visitors on that evening. Cost of the mounds tour is a suggested donation of $5.00. (This includes the museum, the moonlight mounds tour, the expo, and the boat tour).

The address for the Crystal River Archaeological State Park is 3400 N Museum Pointe, Crystal River 34428. For additional info, call 352-795-3817.

If you do not wish to have dinner with the group, simply meet at the mounds at 6:00 p.m. for the expo, or 8:00 p.m.  for the mounds guided tour only.  This trip allows you to do as much or as little as you wish. There will be a sign up sheet at the Sept. HHPS Business meeting. It is important that we know how many people to expect.
