HHPS Ybor City Tour/ Field Trip

Following is an outline of our planned walking tour of the Ybor City National Historic Landmark District.

1. We will meet at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 19, 2018 in front of the Fernando Noriega Jr. Palm Avenue Parking Garage, 2010 North 13th Street, Tampa, FL. Participants who wish, may park their vehicles there. The garage is a large modern facility with ample space. Parking fees may be paid with cash or credit card. Tour participants should meet in front of the garage on the corner of Palm Avenue (10th Avenue) and 13th Street.

2. Our itinerary will consist of walking along main streets through an area that extends for several blocks in distance. We will view a number of significant buildings and sites many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places. 

3. The tour will end at the Ybor City Museum State Park, 1818 East 9th Avenue. The museum occupies the
former Ferlita Bakery and displays interpretive exhibits that highlight the history of the Ybor City community. An entrance fee is required. 

4. Participants who wish to return to their vehicles at the Fernando Noriega Jr. parking garage after touring the museum may want to employ the TECO Line Streetcar System that serves Ybor City. The local Centennial Park station is located a short distance from the museum at 8th Avenue and 20th Street. Passenger tickets may be purchased at the station through a vending machine that accepts cash or credit cards.

5. After viewing the the museum, participants who intend to have lunch at the Columbia Restaurant, 2117 East 7th Avenue. may go directly to the restaurant.The Columbia Restaurant provides ample complimentary guest parking in areas that are located immediately adjacent to the restaurant.

6. Comfortable attire and footwear will enhance the participants' enjoyment of the tour and is recommended.
